This week has been a really good one for us as a family. P2 turned 5 years old this week and we had a family trip out, it’s snowed and been frosty a few mornings too but the best news we’ve had this week is to do with P1.
Right at the beginning of the week P1 had another routine medical appointment. This was the appointment where we needed to discuss the various questionnaires both the school and I filled out to hopefully more closer to getting a diagnosis.
We sat and spoke to the Community Paediatrician (Why do we always see a different doctor?) and finally she agreed to refer her to be assessed for Autism. I instantly felt this relief lifted from my shoulders. We’ve been fighting to get the assessment for five years, and whether or not she gets a diagnosis is totally irrelevant, I am thrilled that we are finally being listened to. Sadly there’s a 12-18 month waiting list but it’s happening.
