To my Princess 3,
You dramatically entered our world the day after my birthday. I’d promised I wouldn’t share my birthday with not only my second anniversary and another birthday. You couldn’t breathe and were taken to special care. You are now one whole year old and continue to be our little drama Queen. Right at the start you were in and out of hospital on antibiotics. You had a tongue tie and our breastfeeding journey came to an abrupt end.
You are so incredibly different to your big sisters. You are much more laid back in most things yet a complete moody and dramatic little thing too. I really think you are going to be the biggest trouble as you grow bigger and more confidence. You have a very big personality for such a teeny person.
You are still wearing 9-12 month clothes, weigh 17.12lbs and have a big head. In fact they’ve got to monitor that as its unusually large compared to your body apparently. An alien comes to mind but you’re certainly not alien like. Your hair is hilarious, long round the sides and top but short around the back. I wonder sometimes if it’ll ever be the same length all around.
In the past year we have breastfed, formula fed, baby led weaned, baby worn and occasionally coslept. You’ve learnt to roll, sit, crawl, climb and take a few steps. I wonder what the next year will have in store for us, for you.
Getting you to really laugh is always a struggle, even now, but your sisters manage more often than not. You are a happy baby though as long as you are occupied. I’m going to really miss those newborn snuggles but you’re growing older now and more independent as the days go on.
You are on cows milk now and being a one year old will come with a whole new range of routines, things to do and see and learn. It’s only going to be a few weeks left of “baby” and you’ll be taking more and more steps into “toddlerhood”. I’m excited for you, you are such a cheeky little girl already and watching your personality grow is such a gift I’m cherishing.
I love you so much birthday girl!
Love Mummy x
