Creative Fun With Hama Beads & Giveaway

“Mummy can we do an activity?” Are the words that come out of my darling middle daughters mouth every single day. We once had a pretty extensive crafting/activity cupboard around Christmas time but with P2’s relentless requests that supply has gone down rapidly.

We are working with DKL over the next few months to showcase some of their amazing toy brands. The first to arrive was from Hama. Hama beads are a craft toy available in many different sizes and packs. They are designed to promote creativity so absolutely great for P2’s need for an activity.

We had been sent a bucket of 10,000 Beads which also included 2 pegboards, two packs of ironing paper and a spare 2 pegboards kit. If you’ve never heard of Hama beads then they are basically small tube like beads that you place intricately down on a pegboard to create a design. You then iron the beads to slightly melt them and secure them together. The kit came with a design sheet to follow but you can be as creative and imaginative as you like with Hama.

There’s a lot of concentration required for Hama Beads. My 9 year old loved creating her own design and my 5 year old followed one of the suggested designs. I ended up getting involved with helping P2 whilst P3, who is 3 years old, decided to tip them out everywhere. That was definitely not fun tidying them up!

Once you’ve come up with some fun ideas, it’s time to seal them together. This is obviously a grown up task as irons are extremely hot. You simply lay the ironing paper over the create and gentle rub for around a minute. I find the longer you do it the better the seal but obviously you don’t want to totally melt the whole creation. Let it cool before gently pealing it off of the pegboard. You can also add key-ring or a piece of string if you are getting super creative.

Hama Beads are definitely a great boredom buster or activity for a rainy day even. It’s brand new fun each time as you come up with creative ideas. I’m thrilled to be able to offer exactly what’s in the above photo for one lucky reader. All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is fill in the giveaway form below. I wish you all the luck and creative adventures!!
