Pregnancy Diaries – 17 Weeks #3

This pregnancy seems to be flying by. People ask me how many weeks I am and I actually have to really think about it. I don’t feel as connected with my body as I did with the girls, it’s very strange.

We have plenty to be excited about but I think my worries are overwhelming that excitement at the moment. I’m hoping that when we know if we’ll be having a boy or a girl that I may begin to feel a bond with the little baby growing inside. Or maybe when it finally starts to make movements I can feel.

We’ve been discussing our sleeping arrangements recently. P1 currently sleeps in a high sleeper and has her toys underneath. P2 is in a cotbed with all rails up. The girls share the bigger room and we have the smaller room that just about fits our double bed in. We’ve decided to keep P1 where she is and put P2 on a mattress on the floor under the high sleeper. That will sort my fears of her falling out the bed in the middle of the night and free up the cot for the new baby.

However, the new baby’s sleeping arrangements is yet to be decided. Hubby wants to co-sleep, just like we did with P2, and I quite like the idea of being able to freely breastfeed during the night again. However, with P2 still waking in the night I’m concerned that when I hop out of bed to deal with her and leave hubby asleep that the baby could potentially roll out of bed.

We have no space for a special co-sleeper cot so that’s out of the question. I’m also concerned that hubby and I will once again have to plan our sex life even more intimately than at the moment! So the only other option for us to consider is the baby to inherit P2s cot and there’ll be 3 kids in one room. Then there’s a whole new range of problems with that!! To start… The baby waking both girls and not succeeding with breastfeeding!

Anyway, in the past two weeks I’ve still been feeling very sick on most days, occasionally actually being sick and then this incredible tiredness is lurking around despite the iron three times a day!! I don’t think I’ve got a bump yet, just a flabby belly but as soon as it gets to a non-embarrassing stage then I’ll be posting pics.

  1. Let hubby get up to deal with P2 hun. You can’t deal with a newborn and a toddler who doesn’t sleep through. So many people I know send their other half’s to deal with the older kids if they night wake when you have a newbie xxxx
