Last days are always bittersweet. I always get butterflies and nerves. Anticipation of the reality hitting when we reach our own front door and also the real want to cram as much in for the last few hours as possible.
Is packed up most of our bits the night before. It made our more much less stressful which is something I’ve learnt with P1 hating change. We had breakfast and was able to chill out until the very last minute to checkout. Checkout is 10am at The Orchards Holiday Park and our ferry was at 2pm.
We’d already decided to go swimming on our last morning. I’d made sure I packed shampoo and new clothes for us so we could start our day. It helped to wear the kids out in case we got stuck in traffic on our way home. I managed to capture some lovely photos of my family in the pool as it was very quiet.
After swimming I really wanted to go to an English Heritage site but sadly we had just enough time to grab petrol and a McDonald’s. The first McDonald’s of our trip, if you know me personally you’ll know we always manage to find a McDonalds on all of our holiday trips. It’s our thing.
We’d popped a film on in the back for the girls whilst we queued to board the ferry. I always find the way back from the Isle Of Wight to be quite rocky, I suffer with motion sickness and am usually ok-ish, but this journey did make me feel quite queasy. We were all physically stumbling from the waves.
The journey home was ok compared to our journey there. We all felt exhausted as travel does. Our trip to the Isle of Wight was very different to our previous ones, we endured wind and rain for majority of it but still made some amazing memories. The Isle of Wight is honestly our favourite family friendly destination to holiday in and would highly recommend it for any family or even without children to be honest. It’s a beautiful island.
I have eight blog posts from our most recent trip to the Isle of Wight and there’s a whole playlist for my Isle Of Wight holiday videos and I’d love it if you could pop over and take a watch. I hope you enjoy our video below.
