I have been a pretty big fan of Orchard Toys for the duration of my parenting years and probably even before that seeing as the company is over 40 years old! When I got an email to become an Orchard Toys Blogger I was pretty excited. For our first product to review we were sent the Little Bus Lotto which is part of their new range of mini games.
There are 6 mini games to pick from featuring the classic Snakes and Ladders, Dominoes and even Snap. All with cute little animal characters to bring them to life. I was a little worried about picking a “mini game” and I thought that maybe some of the quality that I love in the normal Orchard Toys games would be lost, but I was so wrong. All the products are made in Britain with 100% recycled material which I think is really important these days.
The Little Bus Lotto is the perfect size to pop in your hand bag or changing bag and get out when the kids need some focus, like at a restaurant. Each piece of the game is designed beautifully and they are very strong meaning kids cannot fold the pieces or break them which again is a really important feature. The aim of the game is to place all the little squares upside down, picking one up at a time and if it’s the character you need for your bus then you can place it on your bus board or show the other players ready for their turn. The game is designed to help teach memory, matching and encourages observational and social skills too.
The game is suitable for children aged 3-6 years old but my 7 year old loves this game too. The Little Bus Lotto is a game of just the right size. It isn’t too long which loses the attention span of younger players. Our 3 year old tends to like to play something for a short amount of time then disappear off to do something else, but this game kept her entertained and she actually won twice with zero cheating going on. You can have up to 4 players and we recently played with my BIL too, who’s five and is just like P2. They really enjoyed the game together and it was lovely to see.
The mini games each cost £4.99 and I think that’s a really good value. It may sound a little sad but I carry this game with me most days now to keep the girls entertained.
