Letter To My Princess 1 – 7 Years Old

To my Princess 1,

At 10:27am on Christmas Eve 7 years ago, you made me a mother. I carried you for exactly 33 weeks and 1 day. This birthday feels even more special than the others because you were born 7 weeks early. It feels like a lucky number.

Your confidence has grown so much this past year. You have even joined the school choir and have shown an interest in ballet too. Both things I never imagined my baby girl to be doing.

There’s things about you that terrify me. The erratic behaviour and lack of control. But there’s so much that makes me proud. Deep beneath you there’s this warmth and love that you have for your little sisters.

You are doing well at school. You have so many friends, especially E and another girl that’s a few years above you. You are always talking about them. In fact you are always talking in general. You read pretty much everything now, or at least give it a really good try. Your writing is slightly improving too and you’ve been referred for some help with your fine motor skills.

This birthday we decided not to go overboard on presents. Instead you have a few things that you asked for. You are into Shopkins and Monster High so I’m hoping you’ll love your birthday presents. Daddy also bought a helium walking giraffe balloon for you, that’s one of the things we call you and you laugh about. We say you are sometimes just like a baby giraffe when they learn to walk.

We are off to the cinema to see The Good Dinosaur. Just you, Daddy and me. I thought you deserved some alone time with us and I hope I have made this birthday special for you. I have made you some pancakes for breakfast with syrup and for dinner we are having fish and chips. Your favourite foods.

I know that I don’t always get things right with you. I’m still learning. I just hope you truly understand how much you mean to me. I love you so much baby. I can’t believe it’s been 7 years!!!

Love Mummy x
