“it sounded like she was drowning”

Being a parent is so nerve racking! Last night was one of those moments for us.

Yesterday P2 was sick twice. Randomly choking when she had her morning nap, then again at dinner time and then once put to bed I kept having to run upstairs as she was coughing. My hubby and I was scared she’d be sick or choke or both.

Every now and then it sounded like she was drowning, like when you get loads of phlegm stuck in your throat and you can’t swallow or cough it up. We took the decision to have her in our bed last night. We’d even begun to discuss the nearest hospital and whether only one of us would go, or if we’d take P1 to my MiL or ask my MiL to come to ours.

For about two hours, every 10/15 minutes she’d start choking/coughing but after that she slept quite peacefully kicking us every so often. It was a worrying night but P2 seems fine today. I’m exhausted but the main thing is that she’s ok!
