Happy 100th Birthday Roald Dahl! #RoaldDahl100

I don’t think there’s a single person that hasn’t heard of the name Roald Dahl. If you haven’t then where the heck have you been because today is Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday! I wasn’t actually aware that this amazingly talented author passed away before I was even born, in 1990. Roald Dahl directly wrote 39 books but the ones I really remember are most definitely Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach.

Carlton Books have produced a beautiful book in honour of Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday and we have been lucky enough to receive a copy. The book consists of 59 pages that bring the world of Roald Dahl to life. It has many well known quotes from the most loved books and has the quirky illustrations of Quentin Blake over each page. I love how the book really helps you get a new perspective on the stories I grew up with.

When I read through this book I was instantly reminded of being back at school when we had to read a book and then write about it. It has a real scrapbook feel and I think Stella Caldwell (a children’s author and long-term Roald Dahl enthusiast) has done an amazing job of pulling together this fascinating book. The book also incorporates four large booklets including “A Spotters Guide To Giants” plus a personal letter in an envelope and two large flaps.

This book would be perfect as a gift for an adult or a child. It’s fun and quirky just like all the Roald Dahl books are. This book costs £16.99 and can be bought from all good bookshops and online stores and of course from Calton Books themselves. Happy 100th Birthday Roald Dahl!!
