My girls are becoming increasingly interested in cooking. I recently taught them how to toast their own crumpets and it was lovely to see their proud faces when they did it all by themselves (with assistance obviously). We were recently asked by Ella’s Kitchen to take part in a cooking challenge with the girls using their brand new cooking book named the Easy Family Cookbook or the Orange One!
The book arrived along with some brilliant goodies to help us get started. We weren’t told which recipe to choose so I let the girls pick. The Orange One is bursting with colour and the photos are just stunning. The cookbook is built up in sections. There are breakfasts, lunches, family feasts, puddings and fun family food. Each recipe is clearly laid out and I love the little guide at the top that tells you if it is suitable to be frozen or not.
Inside the Easy Family Cookbook is a really useful family meal planner and an ideas sheet too. I love that there is also parts that offer a few different ideas for a certain ingredient and even fun ways to serve fruit so that your kids will want to eat them. The cookbook is definitely lively and fun throughout. I was really excited to get tucked in to our cooking challenge and let the girls look at the different recipes.
P2 was the one to pick the recipe and so I decided to cook with just her this time round. The recipe she chose was Awesome Apple Hotcakes. I honestly think P2 was drawn in by all the fruit, she’s a brilliant fruit eater! I filmed our adventures in the kitchen and how you can make your own hotcakes too. See the video below:
I loved how P2 got really on board with the cooking but also with the filming too. We had a lot of fun whilst her little sister slept. The Awesome Apple Hotcakes recipe was really easy to follow and they tasted amazing. P1 came home and literally scoffed them all down so quick. I was delighted to see that she was actually eating apples considering that girl refuses fruit.
The Ella’s Kitchen The Easy Family Cookbook costs £4.99 on Amazon which I was really surprised at. It is so affordable for families. It’s honestly a brilliant cookbook.
