One of my longest dreams is to travel to the Caribbean. I have never been fussy as to where because I’ve loved the idea of sun, sea and sand to surround me. Recently Virgin Holidays got in touch to see if I wanted to recreate my own perfect holiday experience as part of their #DreamBigger campaign where you could win a trip to NYC!!
We were given the topic Barbados and with a certain little person’s third birthday approaching we thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to have a Barbados inspired party and a nice walk in the woods too. We ordered some brightly coloured beach themed supplies to accompany our celebrations.
Barbados is well known for being the home of the Baobab tree. There’s actually only two of these trees in Barbados and the one in Queen’s Park is thought to be over 1,000 years old and is so incredibly large in circumference that you would need around 15 people with their arms outstretched to wrap around the trunk.
For me the sheer size of that is incredible and I thought it would be fun for the girls to try a little experiment when we went for our walk. I wanted them to try to spot certain trees and for them to see if they could reach around them with their arms, working as a team too. It was great fun and something very different to what we usually do on our walks.
The Crop Over is Barbados’ most popular and colourful festival and that’s why I chose some colourful plates and decorations to compliment our birthday girl’s vibrant personality. She had a really lovely time and I’m glad we did this on her birthday because it made everything so much more special than it could have been.
