Greatest Animal Stories

This book is packed with animal related stories chosen by one of the UKs most successful children’s authors, Michael Morpurgo. The book is full of bright but quirky illustrations. This book would make a fantastic gift at Christmas time and is perfect for shared reading or for choosing quick stories each bedtime.

A Dot In The Snow

This is just the sweetest book with a heart warming story between a polar bear and a little girl. It is written by Corrinne Averiss and the soft looking drawings are by Fiona Woodcock. It introduces kindness between animals and people. P2 loved this book and I just thought it was super cute.

Walking In A Winter Wonderland Book & CD

This is a book based on the best selling song Winter Wonderland. It features the lyrics as you turn each page with bold and beautiful pictures of a winter wonderland. You can’t help but read the book in the tune of the song. This book comes with an accompanying CD by Peggy Lee and an exclusive reading too. The girls thought I was a little weird singing a book to them but this would make a great festive gift for this winter.

The Mouse That Cancelled Christmas

I love this book. It has got to be my most favourite Christmas story of all time! It’s a story about a little mouse that is very health and safety concious. A little tip, keep your eye out for the Robin on each page, not only is he cute but he is telling a little story. This book would be perfect for all ages and all three of my girls love it just as much as I do.

Winnie and Wilbur Meet Santa

This is a brand new book released in September 2016. I have ashamedly never read a Winnie and Wilbur book so I was quite excited to read this one myself. I found each page like a treasure trove of excitement with lots of different things to look at and explore. The pages are thin so it’s quite shocking to find a pop up scene right at the end. I love this book and it’s a classic tale with Santa needing help to save Christmas.

My favourite part of Christmas, could i have an easier question?! Like one with just a yes or no answer?! No, ok.

I love the anticipation of Christmas, that run up time when everything just feels that little bit more magical. It’s when you start thinking about Christmas presents and what you’re going to cook this year. You start seeing Christmas decorations go up and hear the odd Christmas song and it fills you with so much warmth and joy. It’s this run up time that Santa is working out what to give our children and in my house, what The Doctor (yes, from Doctor Who and i mean seriously, every year since she was 1) thinks about what he’s leaving for my daughter this year. It’s when the clarity of what makes the perfect gift for someone come into focus and you, even as an adult, can’t wait to share with them this thoughtful, amazing gift. The air gets colder, you can see your breath in the air and although for the most part it’s grim outside, your house has never felt more cosy and welcoming. Christmas day is great, it’s a wonderful day but it’s over so quickly so for me it’s the months running up to it that mean something for me, the anticipation is so exciting.
