Big Family Holiday To The Isle Of Wight – Day Two

Despite having a long first day on the Isle Of Wight P2 still woke in the night. I hoped that the black out blind and being at the other end of the barn would help her sleep. It did a little bit on our first night as she only woke at 5 am which was much better than usual. However, she persisted to shout continuously disturbing everybody. P1 and P3 both slept through as usual which was lovely. We were actually sharing a room with P3 so I was a little nervous that we’d disturb her but it was ok so far.

We had all decided to go for a huge family day out to the Isle Of Wight Zoo. This was on my bucket list of places to visit whilst we were away. We managed to get a really good group discount for entry and parking seeing as there was 18 of us attending. I didn’t really know what to expect but it was definitely a surprise to pull up into the car park and be staring straight at the beach and sea with the zoo behind us.

IOW ZOO

The zoo was super clean every where, well maintained and the staff were so friendly. It’s a small little zoo with mainly big cats and monkeys but everybody had a really lovely time. The girls especially loved the poo museum, and yes I am serious! We all devoured a nice ice cream as the weather was so warm and sunny that we needed to cool down. We ate our lunch in the shade and thankfully P3 had a nap as she was extremely emotional from all the walking.

After the zoo, the majority of our gang went for a wander along Sandown seafront whilst Hubby, my MiL and the kids headed down to the beach. We were properly prepared this time and so the girls slapped on their suncream and popped on their swimming costumes and headed to explore. P1 loved pretending to be a baby turtle trying to reach the sea and P3 loved helping her sister bury P2 and make a mermaid tail for her with sand. It was a really lovely afternoon.

When we arrived back to the barn and regrouped, we decided to order some fish and chips. As you can imagine our order was a pretty large one, but the people at The Cod Father in Ryde did amazingly and we enjoyed a family meal in the comfort of the large barn at Kempshill Farm. After our food we put the girls to bed and just relaxed. The little lounge in our barn was really cosy even though it had huge ceilings.
