I have been hibernating so far this winter. Spending most of my days in my joggers or pjs bottoms and doing my best to avoid unnecessary trips outside. Things are back to normal routines now and we are trying to do more things at the weekends this year.
This Sunday we stepped completely out of our comfort zones and decided to do an outdoor walk in the cold, wet and even hail! I’d seen the Stick Man Trail advertised and our local one was at Bedgebury Pinetum, which is only about an hour drive from us. I packed a lunch bag full of sandwiches and snacks, we all wore double layers, wellies and the girls had their rain all-in-ones on.
I really expected the girls to whinge about walking and about the cold but actually they didn’t. Even Hubby, who usually doesn’t step foot outside if there’s even a threat of rain, was quite happy and content.
We paid the £3 for an activity pack, however the girls weren’t really interested in it and just enjoyed running, exploring and finding each picture. I ended up filling it in. It was a lovely trail though with activities to do relating to the Stick Man book.
Our day reminded me that we shouldn’t be afraid of the weather. It was hailing by the end and not once did the girls complain. They thoroughly enjoyed being out getting closer to nature. Exploring their abilities, jumping in muddy puddles and finding new things to play with.
I’ve made a little video from our day out. I hope you enjoy!
