When it comes to holiday locations, it’s important you find the right one for your family.
Do you need a location that has it all, from water parks and kids’ clubs to evening entertainment, or a quieter resort for families who are looking for chilled days by the pool and perhaps the odd day out at the local market? So, where is best to hop on a plane to in 2016, if you’re ready to start looking at those deals?
A much loved destination for families, Portugal is a hot spot when it comes to summer holidays. It’s the ideal destination if you’re looking for well kept sandy beaches, rustic buildings and stunning national parks to take walks through – there’s also plenty of golfing opportunities and the Algarve is well known for the sport! In fact, Portugal is so popular many families who pay the country a visit end up speaking to a property specialist, such as Portugal Property, about buying a place out there!
Stay in the Algarve and enjoy the more touristy side of the location, with regular boat trips out on the open sea. The Zoomarine sea life park is well worth a visit and between May to October the Fiesa Sand Sculpture Festival takes place, which is great for all the family to look around and experience.
- Canary Islands
Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are all ideal destinations for families as they offer the traditional package holiday vibe, along with plenty of fun sights to see outside the hotel. With stunning beaches on each of the islands offering long days of snorkeling and paddling, national parks that showcase the best of the region’s natural plant life and animals and plenty of locations to find a drink at night for the adults and some entertainment for the kids, the Canary Islands has become a firm favourite for most families heading abroad.
You can’t go wrong with a visit to Florida and Disneyland, with warm weather for most of the year (watch out for the stormy season between June and November) it’s the ideal location if you want a jam packed, activity filled holiday and a tan to go with it. Kids will love visiting the amusement parks in the area, Universal is also a popular destination, as is Seaworld, and adults can relive their lost youthful days and see the infectious joy their kids are experiencing on such a trip. Florida is a little pricier but if you head to the destination in early Spring time (March) you should be able to grab a reasonable deal and enjoy less tourists.
- Greece and Greek islands
Clear blue seas, stunning beaches and very reasonably priced holidays currently make Greece an ideal destination for a family looking to unwind and enjoy the sun. The economic climate in Greece, of course, isn’t ideal at the moment but the tourist industry is staying strong and continues to offer plenty for the family to do, with plenty of fascinating historical buildings to explore to beaches that look like something from a postcard. The village of Lindos is the perfect place to visit if you’re staying on the island of Rhodes. Unspoilt and visually stunning it’s perfect for older kids and parents to enjoy with plenty of restaurants, shops and markets to explore.
Why get on a plane when you have a world of things to do and keep you entertained right here in the UK? Head north to a cottage in the Yorkshire Dales and enjoy long walks, picnics and bike rides in the breath taking countryside, or go south and experience our very own slice of paradise in Torquay and Cornwall where you’ll actually find palm trees thriving.
Our capital city is of course always a good shout with tourist attractions aplenty including West End shows, zoos and well loved buildings to experience.
Wherever you decide to head this year, choose somewhere that offers something for everyone and we think the above destinations definitely tick that requirement off.
